Act One: The Heartbreak.

A gasp broke the silence.
Betrayal continued to burn through her, like a hot knife in a stick of butter. It fueled her anger. She heard the voices of everyone telling her to calm down, but she turned away from them, giving into the pain, the burning rage covering the betrayal inside of her.
They had condemned her, her friends, her family. The entire town.
As Katya looked to the sky, hot tears burning her skin, she cried out in anguish. Finally, the rain began to fall, a crack of thunder shaking the water loose from the heavens. She gasped for air, writhing against the large, hardy oak tree holding her. Her hands had been bound behind her, by her own Father.
The town had gather for... well, there was no other way to put it. They had gathered for their prophetic, human sacrifice.
A long time ago, at the founding of the town: "Stormplains" a prophecy was told, saying that one day, a storm would blow in from the west bringing only death and destruction to the town. Unless a worthy sacrifice were to be left at the tree planted when the town was founded.
And as a sacrifice, Katya had been chosen.
Her tears burned, the rain burned...
None of it marred her skin, but her soul was on fire, crumpling under the weight of the town's betrayal. Within a second, everything seemed to slow. The flames still licked upon her soul, but with her eyes to the sky, sound cracked open the heavens, and light poured forth from the sky snaking down towards her.
Katya could only watch as the lightning struck her, and a scream ripped out of her as every single cell in her body burned with electricity.
And then, everything went white.
Katya awoke with a gasp, her face still stained with tears. She was exhausted, only embers were left of her soul. But before she could gather her bearings, a feeling tore through her, something like having her heart torn out.
And then, everything went white.
When she awoke again, Katya was in a stark, burnt orange jumpsuit. Her forehead was covered in sweat. But, what greeted her eyes was only the inside of a prison cell. She gasped and shot out of her bed, moving to the metal bars that kept her restrained.
She looked to the windows, humanoid aliens and strange beings mixing below.
And only the blackness of space, with the stars sparkling, greeted her through the thick windows.

Act Two: Hard Time

Suddenly, all of the burning rage drained from Katya and she went pale. The stars were outside the windows. Space.
After a few minutes, she managed to tear her view away from the windows, and she looked over the space below. It seemed to be a combination between a cafeteria and a gym. There were all kinds of... humanoids. Aliens. None of them were human, it was the single strangest sight she'd ever seen. All of them were wearing orange.
She was in prison.
The realization hit her like a ton of bricks, knocking the wind out of the teenage Katya. With a woosh, the bars of her cell slid upwards, allowing her an exit from the cell. A nearby guard ushered her out, and in a haze, Katya moved to the communal cafeteria.
Over the years, Katya learned a few things about herself, and the prison. First, This prison was called Polaris. At the time, it had seemed like a sharp irony. Katya had even laughed at the time. Next, she had been arrested for harboring a dangerous electronic life-form.
The lightning that had struck her.
Third, there was a large amount of alien life outside of Terra. and Finally, she learned that she was a survivor.
She entered the prison at 15 years old. Since then, she'd been stabbed and fought. But, she'd always come out on top. She survived. and she'd learned the way of life in Polaris Prison.
Today was different though.
She could tell as soon as she woke up. From the start, something felt... off.
During lunch, the prison, the whole damn station rocked with some kind of impact. Panic ensued immediately, chaos erupted and it seemed that a plan sprung into motion.
The guards shouted for order over the PA system, but none of the prisoners listened. Everything seemed to happen in a flash, some of the prisoners had taken an overseer tower, taking control over part of the prison itself.
And then, everything went white.
Katya awoke with a gasp, jumping up in her seat. She looked around blinking, and then groaning as pain shot through her. But, another gasp shook her as lightning seemed to spark from her fingers. When she finally regained her bearings, Katya found that she was in an unfamiliar part of the Polaris Prison.
The reactor room.
It was dark, but she could see emergency lighting painting the walls.
She looked at her sparking fingers, watching as the lightning jumped from parts of her skin. It didn't hurt. That was one of the most striking things about it.
Something reached for her inside. She grabbed hold of it, and found herself sitting in front of that damned oak tree.
The same one, where she'd been turned over as a sacrifice.

Act Three: The Reckoning

She knew what had happened, but that same rage burned in her again, flames roaring over her scorched burned soul and heart.
That life-form she'd learned about that they said was dangerous had come back to her. She felt it there like a companion. A symbiote. The both of them burned in harmony, ready to exact her revenge. Hell, it'd brought her here, back to the scene of a crime.
Katya wasn't sure of the specifics, but the power she held, could rip a hole in space-time, a small one. Merely for transportation, nothing more.
The sky burned again now, and that night, the village burned too.
For once, the outside world burned in sync with her soul, their soul. Smoke poured from the town of Stormplains, and it burned with the reckoning of two souls on fire in symbiosis.
Once all was said and done, Katya returned to the tree looking over what she'd done, and she wept for her lost life. The years that never were, the pain she'd endured.
And she just walked away, numb.
Suddenly, she had power, a companion, and revenge. But it didn't help.
